a Sun fish, Blue Maomao and Kahawahi made for commission. The main body os each fish is carved from Jelutong, a light strong wood, often used for tool making because of its close and uniform grain. The fins and tails are made from a section of timbers, [Oak, Pine, Sapele and Doug Fir] to add variety to the textures of the fish. Once the shape of the fish are carved, they are then torched, to amplify the grain, and seal the timber. In this instance, the fish have been sprayed black.
